MEMORY OF LIGHT by Ruth Vanita: This is a 224-page novel from 2020 about a woman from India who falls in love with a poet and befriends a man who falls in love with another man. The author is a lesbian Burmese-Indian Protestant woman.

THE WOMAN WHO OWNED THE SHADOWS by Paula Gunn Allen: This is a 229-page novel from 1983 about a woman who, after being abandoned by her husband, begins a process of spiritual healing with the help of women who share her Native American heritage. The author was a lesbian woman with Lebanese-American, Sioux, Scottish, and Laguna Pueblo ancestry.

CONFESSIONS OF A MASK by Yukio Mishima: This is a 256-page novel from 1949 about a man coming to terms with his homosexuality in traditional Japanese society. The author was a bisexual Japanese Shinto man.

FRIED GREEN TOMATOES AT THE WHISTLE STOP CAFE by Fannie Flagg: This is a 416-page novel from 1987 that explores themes of family, aging, lesbianism, and the dehumanizing effects of racism on both black and white people in 1930s Alabama. The author is an American woman who is possibly a lesbian.
